Saturday Evening In Oxford

Today is a lazy day for us. Mark is finally catching up on some sleep he has been needing and I am sneaking around working on his Valentines present since that is tomorrow! Ahhh! I love Valentine's day. I love all the red and pink hearts everywhere. Celebrating v-day in south west ohio usually means we are snowed in so Mark and I never plan anything to big just cute little things.

On top of all the snow it has been freezing here and I realized that I look like a blanket monster walking around the house this morning.

Ikea comforters are the best!

work + school = life

Things have been a bit crazy around here lately. Both of us have been working as a many hours as we can get and we each have at least three projects a piece we are always working on. The main project that both of us are working on right now is a documentary about drag queens. It is a really exciting time to be around "Oxford House" we are having editing parties with our friend Kamal, and all of us are producing work that we can not wait to show everyone! We are thinking about having a opening night facebook viewing party so all of our friends can watch it at the same time no matter where in the world they are!

On top of all that excitement I have been sick for the past few days. I spent all weekend in bed recuperating. I would say I am about 70% right now. Here to hoping it will pop up to 100% sometime soon.

UPDATE: I did not buy those boots. Yay will power!

I am going to have to run tomorrow

I made my first ever apple pie today and to tell you about it I made a scrapbook kind of image, but since I can't post any pictures bigger than this on here you will have to go over to my flickr if you would like to read it.

Once more with happiness

While we were home over the weekend Mark downloaded something that took 5 second, when we got back to our house he downloaded it on to his computer and it took 13 minutes, literally. So I once again had to call be put on hold for 30 minutes (40 minutes less than last time) to be told they could do nothing for me over the phone and would have to send a guy out.

He showed up early, was very happy and cheerful and explained everything he was doing completely reset up our network for us and now the internet is working how it should. Not how I was expecting things to turn out. After four different guys coming out pissed off that they had to do something and not doing anything I was sure this was going to be more of the same. I am glad to find out the cable company isn't completely full of lazy jerks.

When he walked in the first thing he said was "Wii Fit ALRIGHT!" after looking around he asked, "are you an artist"? I must be doing something right if he can tell I am an artist by just looking around the house.

October 2008

We went to the Apple Butter Festival yesterday. It was fun. We watched a blacksmithing demonstration, a rug weaving demonstration, and some guy with no shirt and peices of leather hung over his jeans pretend to live in a wigwam. Very interesting. We also got some just made kettle corn, we had to leave the apple butter behind though because we only had two dollars and that went to the kettle corn. Totally worth it.

I took this picture on the way home.

My Handy Man

It all started last year when Mark told me he would like to make t-shirts and I responded with a "well, why don't you"?

I think he has taken that to heart we started Teal Town selling those t-shirts, he has made his scooter go from not running, to running with a bunch of stuff wrong, to fixing everything. Including the broken speedometer.

He also fixed broken light fixtures, and sockets at his parents house this summer and installed a new light fixture in the basement for his Daddy-o.

Plus all the other stuff I am forgetting right now.

Pretty impressive.

Well. This morning when we got in the car to drive to the bus stop, yes, thats what we do. It didn't turn on. After I called Dad and explained what it was doing he said it needed a new battery. So what did Mark do he installed a new battery. He said it was easy, but I would have no idea where to start. The car is now running again, because of Mark. What would I do with out him.

Maybe I should start thinking "well, why don't you" more often.

Update

Not really. We ran out of transparencies to print out our designs on and can't make anything new until we get some of those. Sooooo, I don't know when that will be.

We went home today to pick up my car. Dad apparently worked on it a bunch because it is driving way better than it has in a couple of years. We also had a lovely meal with Donna and Jim at PENN STATION.

Oh. Also. When Mark and I went to Kroger yesterday to pick up some apples and caramel a bat was flying around in the store. I noticed it when it almost ran in to my head. We watched it fly up and down the frozen isles and then around in the pharmacy section. When it flew past the registers employees noticed and sent a guy with a plastic bag and a broom after it. That is the last we saw of it.

I love Mark!

Today exactly one year ago Mark and I finally got married! After all the years and all the planning the wedding was there and now it has passed us by. In the end it was totaly worth it and I wouldn't change anything. It doesn't seem like it was a year ago but it was and we had a great year.

We are celebrating by helping Kendra move out of the apartment while we all wait to hear from Adam in Arizona who has spent all day taking the bar exam. We couldnt think of a better way to spend it. Plus, they got us CAKE! Can't get much better than that.

Best Present Ever.

Donna and Jim got us a Weber grill as a engagement present, we were excited at the time but if we had known all the awesome things that we were going to make with it we probably would had done cartwheels.

As soon as it got warm we started grilling out. Steaks, salmon, hamburgers, chicken wings. But then we got in to a rut where we were grilling the same things over and over again even though they were delicious every time we wanted something new.

A couple cook books have been inspiring us this week and we had the best dinner that has come off the grill yet.

Grilled Shrimp
1/3 Cup Olive Oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon garlic powder pepper blend
Jumbo Shrimp, peeled

Put everything in a zip lock and let the shrimp marinate in the refrigerator for 20 to 30 minutes. Then throw the shrimp on the grill until they look like they are done.

Grilled Pineapple and Watermelon
Drizzle some honey of the pieces of fruit and throw em on the grill. Mark says to take it off when the char marks appear. The pineapple was awesome, the watermelon was watermelon, you cant really mess that up.

Asparagus
Cover with Olive Oil and season with salt and pepper, then throw them on the grill until they are done how you like them.

Finally!

Today is Mark's 21st. If i remember correctly the first birthday of his that I celebrated with him was his 15th. He has stayed pretty amazing through all of these years. I am very excited to be celebrating this years as his wife. I can't think of anything that makes me happier.

Happy Birthday Markie!

My Dream Scooter

Before Mark got his scooter he talked about scooters and all the cool things he could do if he had a scooter like ride it to class, put blades on it and cut the grass, sleep with it. All those things sounded pretty cool to me, and I thought scooters were pretty awesome but I never really wanted to get one of my own. Until he started talking about planning a camping trip and using the back roads to get to some place pretty. Then I got really excited until I realized that either I couldn't go with him, or I would have to drive by myself in my boring car. So I did something stupid and started looking at scooters and I thought both the Honda Metropolitan and Yamaha Vino were pretty cool, but then I saw that the Vino is coming out in this color this year and I think my heart might have skipped a beat.

Now all I have to do is wait three or four years when someone wants to sell their used one and I have a job.

A little light

This what we do when we have no power.

Tornadic

The past couple days the tri-state has had a constant line of storms coming in. Tuesday the channel nine weather guy informed us that the worst of the weather was headed straight for us and if we live around where we live it might be a good idea to take cover.

I was freaking out. Mark on the other hand found the whole thing annoying. He really didn't want to have to spend all night in the bathroom. The thunder was pretty scary, but other than that nothing to horrible happened.

Last night another storm came through, the weather guy didn't tell us to take cover, this one seemed a lot worse to me. Sheets of rain were pouring down, the wind was really heavy, and the thunder was just a little scary. I was talking to Kendra on the computer when the storm was coming in. When the lights started flickering I let her know I was probably going to loose power soon, and that is when the lights started doing this.....

See what I mean about the thunder?

The sun makes school not so bad

It is sooooo lovely today. We need to finish our IMS website so we are walking to King to soak up a little of the sun before we are banished to the IMS Lab Cave.

I noticed

Today as I was driving back to the house after dropping Mark off for his class I realized that the trees were starting to turn green again. I love when everything is green. Green makes me happy, but what I realized makes me even happier is that I didn't need the trees to turn green again. Winter was crappy cause it was cold and gray, but time kept moving for me this year. We got here and I don't feel like I have been asleep for the past couple months. I love summer I can't wait until it is so hot that I can't stand it, I think it will be a little sweeter this year because I don't need it. I'll just enjoy it.
