Wish List

I love book stores. The smell, the lighting, the warmth, the background noise all of it is telling me to buy, buy, buy! So I have started a new tradition of taking photos of the books I want on my iphone so when I get home I can look them up and see if I really want them with out the book store seducing me.

Here are the ones I have taken these past couple weeks

I have never come so close to buying something as soon as I saw it as I did tonight.

You know what is weird about art?

Lots of things.

One of the really weird things is that art is considered "universal", however, everyone has those pieces that they connect with completely and have to resist the urge to sleep with it every night. But the guy next to them could hate it or only offer it a shrug. While I love this piece by Andrew Bannecker you may hate it or find it "eh, ok". So is art "universal" or not? Why do we like what we like and how do we build our definition of art? No one defines it in the same way.
I saw this and I couldn't decided if I wanted to be her or just hang out with her. She reminds me of Tiger Lilly (I always thought she was way better than Wendy).

Anyway, just wanted to share with you what I fell in love with today. I probably wont love it in a couple days.... its a funny thing, art.

I have no words....

Two Weeks - Grizzly Bear from Gabe Askew on Vimeo.

I would like to point out that this is a fan video. It is not the offical music video but something Gabe Askew created because he wanted to, not for money or a grade.

One of my all time favorites

Duane Michals

"This photograph is my proof. There was that afternoon, when things were still good between us, and she embraced me, and we were so happy. It did happen, she did love me. Look see for yourself!"

New Book

I love Keri Smith. Every time I read about one of her books I want it. So far the only one I have is How to Wreck a Journal. It was everything I wanted it to be. She now has a new one out that sounds just as awesome. How to Be an Explore of the World

Have a Visit

If you haven't you should go check out Veer's Idea Galleries. I love the art design and the music, I think I am going to download it and have it looping on my iPhone all day so I can feel like I am in some crazy dream.

True Love

Almost all of my classes require me to turn in a sketch book at the end of the semester. I have been trying to find the perfect sketchbook for me. Last semester I bought a Moleskin and I liked it. But it wasn't great. I really liked the size but the hard cover is a little too restricting and the type of paper that was in it wasn't the best.

This semester I bought a large Strathmore sketch pad. And I like the large paper for brain storming, plus it is very heavy paper so nothing bleeds through to the other side. However, it is really inconvenient to carry around with me all the time, so when I have a great idea I don't have anywhere to write it down.

I think next I am going to try out this Fabriano Classic Artist's Journal. These have way more pages in them, plus I like the idea of the altering cream and white color pages.

I think everyone had their perfect match when it comes to sketchbooks. Mine is still out there somewhere waiting for me to find it.
