Cabled Scarf

I wish I knew how to knit. If I did I would make beautiful things like this. If you know how to knit the tutorial is here.

The Art of Looking Sideways

I had my last class tonight. You know what that means? I can start doing the little stuff again like reading books for fun!

This is one of them, "The Art of Looking Sideways" by Alan Fletcher. Maybe this should be my graduation present to me!

Cant sleep so I am surfing Flickr

I found a big ol' sweetie. How could you not love that face.

Pin Hole Photography

I never have time to go down to the photography studio this semester. I can do all the stuff I need to on my MacBook and the only time I am ever in the art building now is to go to the painting studio, going down to see all the pretty computers and shiny printers would be a major distraction.

When I went down a couple weeks ago I noticed that Jon had put up some pin hole photos in the hall way, one of them happened to be mine.

It is a photograph I took with a oatmeal box camera. I put it down at the bus stop in front of Shriver and let the paper expose through when the bus pulled up sat there for for three or four minutes and then drove away. That is what made the ghostly "MIAMI" in the photograph. I had no idea he scanned this in and kept it.

Kamal and I got our Graduation Outfits

Today has been crazy! I woke up thinking it was Monday, hoping it was Monday because Tuesday I had crap to get done! Kamal is here today working on the video. He has been here since noon. We also got to pick up our pretty robes and hats! Turns out we get a special sash for graduating during the bicentennial! I also found out that The School of Fine Art's color is brown!? We're in the arts it should be something pretty. Kamal said it is pay back for getting to be a hippie for the last four years.

After that we all stopped at the CAB building to tie up lose ends there. I also switched out my self portrait and food paintings. Time to work on the food painting at home!

PLUS! Remax called yesterday and asked if they could show the house from 6 to 7 today sooo Mark and Kamal paused editing for a bit and came to pick me up from my meeting with Rob around then. We got a quick stop in at Ace and Starbucks. Thank God my class was canceled today.

It's only 8pm right now. Lets see what else I can fit in.

Regina

Was reading rockstar diaries the other day and came across an interview with Regina... they asked her about her goals she has set for herself, she has a great way of saying these things. I think it is something that everyone wants but no one knows how to communicate it.

Regina:

To feel like they’re actually doing something and not just reenacting the same thing over and over, and not getting stuck.

Just opening your mind and seeing more of the world and trying to understand how people live and what they think.

All that stuff that will sound really fluffy and disgusting if you write it down. Just be part of the world. Really really live. You know?

One of my big goals is to just not do things out of fear but [to] be really open, which is hard I think. It’s a full time job for people to stay really open. It’s like a second job.

But also - I don’t think it’s good to just do one thing. I don’t think if you’re a musician you should not just be immersed in music. I think it’s really important that if you’re a musician [to] try writing a play or something. Things need to complete other things.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Donna and Jim spent their Thanksgiving break in Texas this year. It wasn't too sad because Donna made the best Thanksgiving EVER the Saturday before they left. It was kind of a bummer that they were gone during both of their birthday's though. So we tried to give them a little birthday surprise for their return home today.

Before all the pretty leaves fell off the trees we went to Old Milford and I got some quick birthday pictures. These have been ready forever but I wanted them to be a surpise. It was really hard not to let everyone see them. I think Jim is looking very George Cloney! Ha. I love how happy they are in them.

I also made them some funfetti cupcakes and used Elsie's cupcake quote bubbles to make them super cute! I changed the color from Thanksgiving Brown to Birthday Fun Pink!

Goal For Today

Get my awesome graduation announcements I made. When I looked at the price for the offical Miami announcements I knew I could do something way better for under $200. I design this "telegraph" last week and got them printed at Staples on pretty pearly paper. I also got bright red evenvelopes to send them out in. It cost me $8 to print the invites and $15 for the envelopes.

Today I am going to get these in the mail, or at least stuffed, addressed and stamped ready to go tomorrow morning.

Holiday Festivities.

I told Mark and my sisters that at the beginning of the semester Thanksgiving was always something I could see happening. The thought of After Thanksgiving though, didnt exist in my head. I mentally blocked that part out. The part where suddenly The End is more real and looming than ever?! That is where I am at right now so naturally we have been talking a lot about the life plan. As of right now we know two things 1. We want to live in Savannah, Ga. 2. We want to start our own photography and videography studio.

Since we both agreed to work for our friend of all friends Patti the big move has been put on hold. At first I would a little discouraged by this. I wanted something new and exiting. This thanksgiving made me realize we are exactly where we should be right now. I love my sisters too much to move away right now. I would be so sad if I didn't get to be with them while they grow up. Plus I love being able to visit family and running in to them on the streets. Saturday we took the girls to a holiday festival in Old Milford. We ran in to Ellen Ruth behind the counter at a little shop and then Katie, Isac and his mom and sister getting out of their car.

This whole back to Milford thing is new and exciting. No more school! But at the same time perfectly familiar. I love being with family and sometime a little more cold is worth that. Perfect example Saturday Night's Outting. I captured it on my phone for you.

I tried taking a picture of the lights in the trees but I moved the camera to soon.

We were going to get this for Donna, but then we saw how much it was and I was disappointed so I took a picture instead.

If you look closely you can see the horse and carriage!

Here is that muffin before ....

work + school = life

Things have been a bit crazy around here lately. Both of us have been working as a many hours as we can get and we each have at least three projects a piece we are always working on. The main project that both of us are working on right now is a documentary about drag queens. It is a really exciting time to be around "Oxford House" we are having editing parties with our friend Kamal, and all of us are producing work that we can not wait to show everyone! We are thinking about having a opening night facebook viewing party so all of our friends can watch it at the same time no matter where in the world they are!

On top of all that excitement I have been sick for the past few days. I spent all weekend in bed recuperating. I would say I am about 70% right now. Here to hoping it will pop up to 100% sometime soon.

UPDATE: I did not buy those boots. Yay will power!

Things will not make me happy

Kamal gave us a coupon for 30% off anything we want at old navy, gap, banana republic, piperlime and athletica. I knew I should have held out and not looked.... but piperlime has the best boots anywhere and I couldn't help myself.

Sigh. They would be perfect for work. I knew I shouldn't have looked. The sale ends tomorrow. Lets see if I can make it.
