Woot!

Moving On

Another November has passed us by, this shall be my last post in honor of NaBloPoMo. I'm bummed I didn't know about it until half way through the month, but I did post everyday from when I joined. I didn't think I could do it. Next year I know about it in time to celebrate the whole month.

It is also time for the our harvesty Etsy banner to come down.

December is here and I now will commence in getting ready for Christmas. I put up a happy little holiday banner to get things started.

Networking

When we started our little shop over on Etsy I wanted just a handful of hearts. We now have 94 hearts, but what is so cool about it is how talented the people are who are giving us all of their hearts. Knowing that people like Nickolya who can create something as awesome as this like the stuff that Mark and I are doing is a very big complement.

I have loved Lauren Alane's little owls forever. They make me wish for money so I can perch them on the top of my computer to keep me company when I am sure that all of this is not worth it and I should just forget about college. Pointless endeavor anyway. I am very flattered she likes what we are doing enough to give us a heart. Very cool.

I need a good trashy romance novel

Mark and I had a pretty bad day yesterday. The kind of day that spills over and ruins the rest of your week. There is no way I could have come up with this idea unless I was feeling truly crappy. Thank God for Mac's with their one plug, and wireless internet. I don't care what anyone says I love Steve Jobs.

We missed last weeks Grey's Anatomy so when I got home from my night class we snuggled down in to bed with our Taco Bell dinner and watched last weeks Grey's on my computer. If we lived in a sitcom this episode would have ended with us snugled in with eachother and our Taco Bell and Daniel Powter drowning out all of the noises in our world only to fade out into the credits.

Holiday Outfits

Over the weekend Kendra showed all of us how to elf ourselves.

If you would like to see us in action you can watch it here, or you can create your own here. It never gets old no matter how many times you watch it. Trust me.

Thanksgiving Stories 2007

Mark waiting for search and rescue to show up.

On the way to Grandmother's house for a delicous meal this Thanksgiving our car broke down. It has been acting weird for a while and finally tuckered out 40 minutes outside of town. I would like to point out there was only 40 minutes until Thanksgiving lunch was scheduled to commence. WE WERE PERFECTLY ON TIME! I am never on time. Dad drove out to pick us up. He got in and it immediately started up. We switched cars and he was able to get it about ten minutes out side of town before he decided he didn't want to deal with it. We left it sitting on the side of the road and headed for turkey, stuffing, and a bathroom.
The next morning Mom went with Dad to check it out. She credits herself for fixing it because she is the one who insisted they put gas in it and see what would happen. It started right up. Well I could have fixed that problem if the gas gage had told me THERE WAS NO GAS LEFT! Oh well. It will be a nice story to tell our children about our first Thanksgiving we had as married people.

Oh my Deery

The day after Thanksgiving, and so starts the Christmas madness. Mark and I have absolutely no Christmas decorations. In fact its our first Christmas being married and we're not going to even bother with a tree. Honestly, most of December will probably be spent back in our home town with our parents. A tree would only be enjoyed for the couple weeks between now and finals, and then it would be a nuisance to come back to after Christmas break is done and over with.

My Mother-it-law decorates with small collections. A bunch of little golden owls, sparkling Texas themed ornaments. It makes everything look all pulled together and homey. If I were to start my Christmas decorations purchasing this year I think I would have to go with these Deery Lou and Friends ornaments. How cute would that Christmas tree be!

Honey Do

I didn't get half of the things I had planned to get done to day done. I did have a fantastic nap. Mark and I did get half of the leaves from the yard on to the street so the city can suck them up with their leaf vacuum. I just put the last load of laundry in the washer. The house is clean with the exeption of the floors which I started to work on before dinner, but just couldn't find it in me to finish the job after I had a belly full of bagel sandwich. After that the only thing left to do was pass out on the sofa.

That Time of Year Again

My internal clock is a month behind. I don't feel like tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I am ready for Halloween. In the on going struggle to split our time fairly between families Mark and I are headed to my Grandmothers tomorrow for the big feast. Then to Mark's parents on Friday to celebrate their birthdays with them over the weekend.

4. I still listen to the N'Sync Christmas CD every Christmas.

Number Sixty Three

I always forget about this picture, but for some reason Mark really likes it and every once in a while reminds me of it. I am not sure it helps to look back on the sunny days of summer or just makes the gray days of November seem even more unbearable.

It was the sixty third picture I ever took on my D80.

The Art of Words

Oh Joy! Guided me to Jeff Canham's site. I love his typography art.
He even put pictures on his site of how he works. I love when artist let us get a glimpse inside of their studio. Many times I find myself much more interested in how the artiest works and what they choose to have around them while they are creating.

Consumerism and Kikus

Andy Warhol, "Kiku"

I have never really thought much about Andy Warhol's art. I like the idea behind it, but none of his things have ever made me want to look at them forever. Tonight I was catching up with Claudia over at The Paris Apartment and found her post about Kiku the Japanese's Chrysanthemum. I know the names of flowers but other than roses and Calla Lilies I can't tell you which one is which. A Chrysanthemum is almost as strange and mysterious as its name so I did an image search for more. Turns our Andy Warhol had a thing for Kikues. This may be the beginning of a Warhol phase for me.

Beer + Ice Cream = Successful Grocery Trip

With the very real possibility that Mark and I might be living in Dublin Ireland for six weeks next summer I have found myself buying things that I would never normally buy.I usually go for Blue Moon when I want a beer. However, Guinness seems to be a way of life in Ireland. I figured we better start immersing ourselves with the culture anyway we can.
O.K. I probably would have bought this before, but I wouldn't have been nearly as excited about it as I was.

Halogen Lamp $10 at Ace. Lovely Flowers $3.99 at Kroger.
Having a husband that will buy you a Halogen lamp and lovely flowers because you have an idea... priceless.

Pure Genius

I found Ross McBrides Anamorphic Series last night and immediately wanted one. Unfortunately no one sells them over here in America. Very depressing. I don't think I would be able to drink out of it if I had one. I would feel the need to display it as a piece of art.

A little help

A couple weeks ago Mark bought me Nigella Lawson's cook book How To Eat. It doesn't have any pictures, which usually is the only kind of cook book I like. But this isn't any ordanary cook book. There are some traditional recipes, add one cup of this, 2 tablespoons of that. Mostly though she talks you through it. It's like having June Clever in the kitchen to politely remind you when you need to turn the heat down.

Guess I wont find this under my Christmas Tree

I am totally bummed. Moop has sold out of their Market Bags in tan.

It was going to be the perfect bag for me. I could have fit everything from the book I was reading, an emergency scarf, lip balm, everything I could have ever wanted with me could have gone in this bag! Alas, it is gone. I guess I will have to cross this off my Christmas Wish list.

I have never been able to keep up with my journals.

I was going to scan in a page from my new journal I bought, but I have already lost it. It was going to be a great post created completely from my handwriting and crappy sketches. I can't remember the last time I had it I am really hopping it was when we went back home for a weekend visit. That way I would have a chance of seeing it again but if I somehow let it slip out of my bag in between classes, or during class I doubt I will ever see it again.

Reals

Every couple weeks I remember that apple.com has an amazing collection of movie trailers. I usually hold off on watching them until its going to take me at least a good 20 minutes to make it through all of them. I love movies I just am very picky about which ones I will actually give two hours of my life to. Stranger Than Fiction is always worth it for me, so is Return To Me. In the past year I have had very little desire to see anything in the theater. So I just watch the trailers to keep up on what is happening in Hollywood. Today while I was waisting time before I had to go pick Mark up from class I realized that it was once again time to go through all the new movies. Music Within and Juno look amazing. I think I'm going to pass on Jumper though.
